TRIFECTA Surf Club

TRIFECTA Surf Club runs a Citywave standing wave, which it describes as the largest in Asia, at 10A Exeter Road beside Somerset MRT, a short walk from Orchard Road. It sits inside the TRIFECTA complex alongside a snowboard and ski school, a skate bowl and a riders' lounge. The surf side runs as a structured club: every first-timer takes a Surf Orientation Class before any other session, and classes step up from there.

A Citywave standing wave in a pool, ridden on short boards; the club recommends boards of 5'6" and under if you bring your own. Board, rash guard and helmet are provided. Classes and open sessions run for an hour, apart from the 45-minute orientation, and online bookings take up to 10 riders per session. The club also runs Ocean Prep classes that use land and flat-water drills to train paddling and pop-ups for surf trips.

Surfers who live in Singapore and want regular time on a wave without a flight, and first-timers who want a coached, structured start. The Youth Surf Academy is built for ages 9 to 16. Riders must be at least 8 years old, 120 cm tall and 30 kg.

The mandatory Surf Orientation Class is 50 Singapore dollars off-peak (weekdays 12pm to 5pm) and 60 at peak. After that, classes and open sessions are 100 dollars off-peak and 120 at peak. Ocean Prep classes are 50 or 60. Social Packs share sessions among friends: 540 dollars for 5 sessions, 990 for 10 and 1,800 for 20. Memberships start at 199 dollars a month for three weekday-afternoon sessions on a 3-month plan, before GST. The Youth Surf Academy is listed at 599 dollars per term. Take the MRT to Somerset; the club is about five minutes' walk and has no parking of its own (the nearest is at 111 Somerset, 313@Somerset or Orchard Gateway). Surf hours are 12pm to 10:30pm on weekdays and 8am to 10:30pm at weekends, with the last session at 9:30pm. The schedule opens on a rolling two-week basis. Weekday afternoons before 5pm are the off-peak rate. Arrive 15 minutes early, and bring swimwear and a towel (towels rent for 5 dollars).
