Information we collect

• Newsletter signups: the email address you submit to subscribe, plus the date you subscribed. Your email is stored in our content platform (Sanity); we do not currently use a separate email-marketing provider.
• Anti-spam & security: when you submit the newsletter or contact form we briefly process your IP address to rate-limit abuse. It is not stored with your submission.
• Contact form: the name, email address, message, and (if applicable) park name you submit.
• Approximate location: if you use the “Use my location” feature on the map, your browser shares your coordinates with your permission. We use them only in your browser to sort parks by distance; we do not store them.
• Usage data: through Google Analytics we collect standard analytics data (pages viewed, device/browser type, approximate region, and similar), which may involve cookies or similar technologies.

How we use your information

• To send you our newsletter, if you subscribed.
• To respond to messages you send through the contact form.
• To understand how the site is used and to improve it.
• To operate, maintain, and secure the site.

We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure site usage. Analytics cookies load only after you accept them in our cookie banner; until then, analytics runs in a restricted, no-cookie mode (Google Consent Mode). You can change your choice at any time using Cookie Settings, control cookies through your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Service providers

We rely on third-party services to run the site, including Vercel (hosting), Sanity (content and form-submission storage), Google Analytics (analytics), and Mapbox (interactive map). These providers process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies.

Data retention

We keep newsletter subscriptions until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address. We keep contact-form submissions for up to 24 months after we have resolved your enquiry, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, and to unsubscribe from our emails at any time. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
