No, Dubai does not have a surf wave pool. As of September 2026 there is no open wave pool for surfing in Dubai. The nearest is Surf Abu Dhabi on Hudayriyat Island, a Kelly Slater Wave Co pool that hosts a World Surf League Championship Tour event, and it is an easy day trip from the city.
Getting from Dubai to Surf Abu Dhabi
By car, Surf Abu Dhabi is about 1 hour 25 minutes from Dubai Marina, about 1 hour 40 minutes from Dubai Mall and about 2 hours 5 minutes from Dubai International Airport. The park asks every surfer to arrive at least an hour before their session, so allow for that on top of the drive.
What it costs
Surf Abu Dhabi is one of the most expensive wave pools in the world. The cheapest way onto the main wave is Surf Social on Saturdays, AED 500 for 45 minutes of party waves on soft tops. Open Surf sessions run AED 1,800 for beginners and AED 2,500 for intermediate and advanced surfers in the summer season, and first-timers can book a coached Discovery session on the End Bay. When to go
The park closes every July and August, and June and September are extremely hot, so the cooler months from October to May are the time to plan a trip. Book ahead in that season and around the WSL event.
Anything planned for Dubai?
A company called SurfBase says it is building Dubai's first all-year surf club and is looking for partners and investors on its website, which gives no opening date. It has no approval or construction we can point to, so it is not in our directory yet. Elsewhere in the Gulf, Bahrain Surf Park finished filling its Wavegarden lagoon in September 2026 and is due to open later in the year, and Saudi Arabia has two open lagoons at ADRENA and Aquarabia.
