THE VERDICT

Surftopia is a real surf lagoon with a proven multi-zone technology in a location where nothing like it existed before. The double-entry cost structure is the main friction for visiting surfers, but the 180-meter ES32 pool is large enough to run multiple skill levels without everyone queuing for the same wave.

OVERVIEW

Surftopia is the surf lagoon inside Aquarabia, a large water theme park at Qiddiya City, roughly 45 km southwest of central Riyadh. It opened in April 2026 as Saudi Arabia's first surf pool and the Endless Surf ES32 lagoon is the technology powering it. Getting in the water requires two separate payments: a park admission ticket and a surf session fee on top of that, so budget the full combined cost before you book.

THE WAVE

The ES32 lagoon is 180 meters long by 73 meters wide and holds more than 10,000 cubic meters of water. Its 32 pneumatic caissons can run four surfing zones simultaneously in split-peak mode. Two confirmed zone names are The Shore, which produces gentler beginner-friendly waves, and The Peak, which produces higher-performance waves. In split-peak mode the pool handles a larger number of surfers across those zones at once. The alternative Single Peak or Point Break session dedicates the wave output to one zone. The system's programming is adjustable throughout the day, so the wave character can shift between sessions for different ability groups.

BEST FOR

Beginners who have never surfed have a specific dedicated zone (The Shore) with easier waves rather than being thrown in with more experienced riders. Intermediates and progressing surfers get The Peak zones. The four-zone simultaneous operation reduces the lineup bottleneck that single-wave pools create. Surfers primarily chasing confirmed tube or barrel performance should treat that as an open question until more post-opening rider reports surface, since barrel capability has not been specified in official Endless Surf or Aquarabia technical materials.

PRICING

There are two separate costs to surf Surftopia. First, park admission: SAR 275 online or SAR 325 at the gate for adults (12+), SAR 170 for juniors aged 4 to 11, free for under-4s. Second, the Surftopia surf session is priced on top of that admission: a Split Peak session runs SAR 300 (roughly $80 USD), and a Single Peak or Point Break session runs SAR 450 (roughly $120 USD). The minimum all-in cost for an adult to enter the park and surf one Split Peak session is around SAR 575 (roughly $153 USD) when booking online. An annual park pass starts at SAR 1,200 but explicitly excludes the Surf Lagoon, so pass holders still pay the session fee each visit. Session pricing does not yet confirm whether board or equipment rental is bundled in.

PLANNING

Buy park admission online at SAR 275 rather than paying SAR 325 at the gate. Confirm current surf session pricing and whether equipment is included directly through aquarabiaqiddiyacity.com before traveling, since add-on pricing in a park's first months often changes. Male surfers should check the day of week carefully and avoid Fridays. The park is about 45 km from central Riyadh so factor in the drive. Sessions in the early morning will be more comfortable than midday surfing in summer. The annual pass at SAR 1,200 does not cover surf sessions, so it only makes financial sense if you are visiting Aquarabia's other attractions frequently.
