Urbansurf runs an open-air Citywave standing wave in Zürich's Gerold quarter, a few minutes' walk from Zürich Hardbrücke station. The team toured Switzerland with a mobile Citywave from 2015 to 2018 before settling here in May 2018. The platform combines the wave with an after-work bar, a restaurant and a surf shop with its own collection, so guests at the bar watch the surfers from their tables.
A Citywave standing wave, surfed in 30-minute sessions of up to six people who take turns on the wave. Board, wetsuit, lycra and, on request, a helmet are provided. You can bring your own board up to 6'2" (with a leash). An AI-driven Surf Eye camera records every session in 4K and sends the clips to your phone within minutes.
Zürich locals and visitors who want a surf session in the middle of the city without a car. Beginners are well covered, since the entry session includes coaching and all equipment. Kids up to 16 have their own session if they weigh at least 35 kg, and groups of friends can book the whole slot.
Beginner, intermediate and advanced sessions are all CHF 65 per person for 30 minutes in a group of up to six, with coaching and equipment included (advanced includes equipment). Kids sessions are CHF 49. A private group session for up to eight people is CHF 390 for the 30 minutes. Come by train or tram: Zürich Hardbrücke station and the Schiffbau tram stop are a few minutes' walk, and there is no parking. In season, opening hours run Tuesday to Sunday, with Monday closed; weekends start at 8:30am. The 2026 season ended on 10 October, and as of 23 October 2026 no 2027 opening date had been published. Entry to the platform is free and open to all ages during opening hours, so friends can come and watch. Bring ID, swimwear and a towel. Book ahead in summer, and look at the Group Surf Session if you are coming with friends.
