The most bookable world-class wave in Latin America, in one of its best surf regions. The resort drama is real but largely irrelevant to a visiting surfer.
Surfland Brasil in Garopaba, Santa Catarina, is the Brazilian wave pool you can actually book. Its 52-module Wavegarden Cove fired its first public waves in 2022, minutes from the real waves of Praia do Rosa and Silveira. The surrounding resort, Latin America's first with fractional ownership, has had a slow, litigious build-out, with completion now promised for December 2026.
The Cove generates more than 20 wave types across zoned peaks, from whitewater learners' waves to hollow expert settings, the same 52-module format as DSRT Surf in California. Sessions run about 50 minutes. Wave quality has been praised by the Brazilian pros who train here between events.
Anyone in southern Brazil wanting guaranteed waves, and traveling surfers pairing a pool session with Santa Catarina's excellent ocean surf. Garopaba and Praia do Rosa are legitimate wave destinations in their own right, so this is one of the few places on Earth where the pool and the ocean genuinely complement each other.
Public sessions run roughly 80 to 100 US dollars for 50 minutes, charged in reais, with tickets sold through the Surfland site. Lessons and multi-session packs are available. Book ahead in Brazilian summer, December through February.
Fly to Florianópolis, about 80 kilometers north. Base in Garopaba or Praia do Rosa, surf the ocean when the swell cooperates, and lock in pool sessions for the flat days. Summer weekends sell out, so book sessions before you travel.
