The EU's first Wavegarden in one of Europe's great surf regions, with real booking momentum already. December 2026 looks credible; plan around a soft-opening winter.
Surfers Cove is a 25 million euro surf village under construction in Óbidos, Portugal, about an hour north of Lisbon and twenty minutes from Peniche. Its 46-module Wavegarden Cove will be the first Wavegarden pool in the European Union. Bookings for early-bird surf and stay packages opened in July 2026 ahead of a December launch.
A 46-module Cove on a five-hectare site, running the standard Wavegarden menu from beginner rollers to hollow expert settings across zoned peaks, the same family of wave as Alaia Bay and The Wave Bristol. Surf Eye camera coverage is already contracted, so every ride gets filmed.
Lisbon-area surfers, surf campers wanting guaranteed water time, and traveling surfers pairing the pool with Peniche and Ericeira, two of Europe's best wave zones twenty to forty minutes away. When Supertubos is flat or maxed, this is the backup plan.
Early Bird surf and stay packages went on sale in July 2026 at discounted rates through surferscove.pt. Standalone session pricing has not been published; comparable European Cove sessions run roughly 70 to 130 euros.
Fly to Lisbon, drive an hour north. Óbidos itself is a beautiful walled medieval town worth the stop alone, and Peniche's beach breaks are twenty minutes away. Watch the Early Bird packages if you want opening-period sessions at a discount.
