PerfectSwell Shima

PerfectSwell Shima is an announced PerfectSwell wave pool planned for Ago-cho in Shima City, Mie Prefecture, on Japan's Pacific coast. At a stated 220 by 100 meters it would be the largest PerfectSwell pool built, roughly ¥4 billion (about $27 million), aimed at hosting competitions and national and Olympic-level training ahead of LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032. As of mid-2026 land acquisition is still in progress, with a stated target of summer 2026.

PerfectSwell's pneumatic system fires waves on demand and can be re-sequenced between sets, the same air-pressure approach running at Waco Surf and Surf Stadium Japan. The developer has described roughly 200 wave types from knee-high to overhead, with up to 10 waves per minute, sized for a competition and training role rather than a single fixed beginner-to-advanced menu.

Nobody yet: there is nothing to book, and the stated purpose leans toward competition and national-team training rather than a straightforward walk-up wave pool. Once open, surfers training for Japan's national tour or the 2028 and 2032 Olympic cycles are the obvious audience; whether it opens broader public sessions the way Surf Stadium Japan does is not yet confirmed.

No pricing has been published. Given the competition and training focus, expect any public access to be structured around scheduled sessions rather than a simple hourly rate, but that is a guess until the operator publishes real terms.
