PerfectSwell Shima

PerfectSwell Shima is a wave pool announced in March 2024 by Ise Shima Cultural Development Co. for Ago-cho in Shima City, Mie Prefecture, on Japan's Pacific coast. The announcement described a 220 by 100 metre pool using American Wave Machines' PerfectSwell technology, a project of about 4 billion yen, a site of 98,948 square metres, and a summer 2026 opening. At the time the company was still acquiring the land. That opening date has passed with no announcement of construction, and a local blog reported in 2024 that the original site had been put on hold after a residents' meeting; that report has not been confirmed by the developer or press.

The developer described about 200 wave types from knee high to overhead, and The Inertia reported it would be on par in size with Boa Vista Village in São Paulo, the largest PerfectSwell pool at the time.

Nobody yet. The announcement focused on competitions, a possible national surf tour and junior training for the 2028 and 2032 Olympics, plus uses such as summer swimming for local schoolchildren, para-surfing events and surf therapy.
