A giant Cove next to a metro stop in Wavegarden's home country is as close to a sure-thing market as this industry gets. The only question is when.
Gemswell Surf Madrid is an urban surf park under construction beside the Metropolitano stadium in Madrid, centered on a Wavegarden Cove of roughly 56 modules, which would put it among the largest in Europe. After earlier targets slipped, the project is aiming for a summer 2026 public opening.
A big-format Cove with the full Wavegarden range, from whitewater and mellow green walls to barreling expert settings, in the middle of a city of seven million that is five hours from its nearest consistent surf. Wavegarden's home country finally gets a public flagship.
Madrid's enormous landlocked surf population, Spanish surfers training between coastal trips, and city-break travelers adding a session to a football-and-museums weekend. The metro-adjacent location makes it one of the most accessible pools anywhere.
No public pricing yet. European Cove references run roughly 70 to 130 euros a session; expect Madrid to land in that band with membership options.
Nothing bookable yet. If you are planning a Madrid trip around it, wait for a confirmed opening date before booking flights, and expect opening months to sell out to the local waitlist first.
