SwellMFG's wave makers are hydraulically driven, without the peak power pulses of air-pressure systems. Its signature is an A-frame split peak, with a left and a right peeling from the same point so both stances ride frontside; it can also run longer right-only or left-only waves. The company quotes split-peak rides of 10 to 12 seconds in as little as a 2-acre footprint.
Swell Manufacturing's team includes executive director Matthew Gunn, the creator of the technology, is based in Phoenix, Arizona; creative and brand manager Shane Beschen brings 30-plus years in the surf industry; and engineering lead John Bushey, based in Minneapolis, is a mechanical engineer specialising in hydraulic motion systems. Its first installation is Revel Surf in Mesa, Arizona.
