No system price is publicly disclosed. Rotterdam's RiF010 installation received a EUR 3 million municipal investment, but that funded one specific project rather than reflecting a typical system cost.
SurfLoch is pneumatic, the same broad family as Endless Surf and PerfectSwell: compressed air cycles through large watertight chambers called caissons, displacing water to generate a wave that travels across the pool and breaks against a shaped floor. Unlike Lochtefeld's earlier FlowRider and Wave Loch systems, which use a thin sheet of water and require specialized boards, SurfLoch waves are ridden on a standard surfboard.
SurfLoch is run by Tom Lochtefeld, who invented the FlowRider standing wave and founded Wave Loch in 1991, before selling that business in 2014 and starting SurfLoch to build traveling, paddle-in waves instead. The company remains a family operation, with Palm Springs Surf Club in California as its flagship commercial installation.
