The CM7 is a standing-wave system: a surfer rides a stationary, continuously flowing wave face rather than paddling into a wave that travels down a pool. Ka'ana describes it as bathymetry-agnostic, meaning it does not need a specially shaped pool floor, which is what let it run as a temporary pop-up.
Ka'ana Wave Co is based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, and led by founder Jamie Watson. Its CM7-Series wave machines won first place for Best New Product at IAAPA's Brass Ring Awards in 2021, and in 2022 it launched them with a pop-up surf park at Britannia Beach, British Columbia, where more than 250 people rode the waves.
