A proposed surf park on about 20 acres of the former Schobel Farm on East Grove Street in Middleborough, Massachusetts, which the Boston Globe described in June 2026 as potentially New England's first surf park. Developers Clay Rockefeller and Jerry Pucillo plan a six-acre Wavegarden lagoon with waves up to about 7 feet, a restaurant and bar and 35 cottages for overnight stays, at a cost of up to 80 million dollars. Wavegarden itself lists Middleborough among its US projects in planning. The applicant, N.E.S.P., LLC, petitioned the Zoning Board of Appeals for a special permit, heard on 23 July 2026, and the Planning Board held a hearing on 4 August 2026.
Nothing to book yet. The site is about 55 minutes by car from Boston and about 50 minutes from Providence; Boston Logan is about 1 hour and T. F. Green about 1 hour 5 minutes.
