Jacksonville Surf Park is targeting an opening in early 2028. Developer Aventuur bought the land in 2025 and, as of February 2026, was progressing detailed design, with construction due to start later in 2026. No groundbreaking has been announced yet, and no exact date or prices have been set.
What has happened so far
The site is 45 acres at 11374 eTown Parkway, in eTown, The PARC Group's masterplanned community off State Road 9B on Jacksonville's Southside. It was unanimously rezoned to a Planned Unit Development in February 2025, Aventuur secured the land in June 2025, and Aventuur says it secured the project funding in 2025 as well. That leaves construction as the next step.
What is being built
The centrepiece is a 56-module, 5.5-acre Wavegarden Cove, the same system behind The Wave Bristol and DSRT Surf, with waves for every level from whitewater to advanced settings. Around it, eTown lists a high-performance surf academy, a boutique hotel, a health and wellness centre, a beach club, restaurants, retail and event space. Aventuur's local partners include Lockwood Holmes Jr., Riley Skinner, Hawley Smith and Brad Davis.
Why early 2028
Aventuur is building Perth Surf Park in Western Australia first, where construction began in April 2026 and the opening is expected in late 2027. Jacksonville is its first US park and follows Perth.
Getting there
eTown is about 25 minutes by car from downtown Jacksonville and from Jacksonville Beach, and about 1 hour from Jacksonville International Airport.
Good to Know
The construction start is the milestone to watch; if it slips past 2026, early 2028 is likely to move too.
