One of the world's biggest wave pools landing in a surf-obsessed city with unreliable local waves is about as safe a bet as this industry gets. Until it opens in late 2027, Melbourne and Sydney remain Australia's only pools.
Perth Surf Park is under construction in Jandakot, about 20 minutes south of the Perth CBD, developed by Aventuur. Its 62-module Wavegarden Cove matches Sao Paulo's Beyond the Club as the equal largest Cove in the world by module count, and will be Australia's biggest wave pool. Construction began in April 2026, with first waves expected in spring 2027 and a public opening later that year.
The lagoon is a 62-module Wavegarden Cove covering roughly 5.4 acres, ten modules larger than the 52-module systems at DSRT Surf and HTX Surf. Wavegarden's modular paddles fire sequenced swells along a central pier, producing peeling lefts and rights on both sides at once. Expect the standard Cove menu proven at parks like URBNSURF Melbourne and Alaia Bay, from whitewater rollers and gentle green waves for learners through to fast, hollow expert settings, with more zones running simultaneously than any Cove operating today. The extra modules should also translate into longer rides. Aventuur has flagged swimmable side shores as a new addition to the Cove format.
Perth surfers tired of fickle metro windswell and a three-hour drive to Margaret River, which is most of them. The Cove format is proven across every skill level, so it will suit families and first-timers as well as competitive surfers using the high-performance academy. The site next to Cockburn Central train station also makes it one of the few wave pools anywhere reachable by public transport.
No session pricing has been announced. Membership waitlist registrations are open at aventuur.com. Established Wavegarden Cove parks, including URBNSURF Melbourne and Sydney, charge roughly AUD 90 to 130 for a standard one-hour session, which is the most realistic reference range until Perth publishes its own rates.
There is nothing to book yet. If you want early access, join the membership waitlist at aventuur.com, since founding offers at comparable parks have included priority booking windows. The site is on Prinsep Road in Jandakot beside the Kwinana Freeway, a short walk from Cockburn Central train station and about 20 minutes by car or train from central Perth. Perth Airport is roughly a half-hour drive.
